Hemlepp Photography & Woodford Youth Soccer Association - WYSA Scholarship

John Hemlepp of Hemlepp Photography is pleased to announce that he has  partnered with the Woodford Youth Soccer Association again this year to sponsor the WYSA scholarship. This is the 7th year for this scholarship. 

The WYSA scholarship is a $500 non renewable scholarship. All WCHS seniors that have participated in the Woodford Youth Soccer Association recreational division for at least one season are eligible to apply.

Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2019 and are available at the guidance office.

The Kentucky Federation of Republican Women grants a $1,500.00 scholarship to a college-bound high school senior girl who has been politically active within the Republican Party.  The qualified applicant will graduate from a Kentucky high school in 2019, is or will be a registered Republican and plans to enroll at an accredited college or university in Kentucky.

Kentucky Manufactured Housing Scholarship (KMHI)

The Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute proud to announce its KMHI Scholarship Awards. Five $1,000
scholarships will be awarded to individuals (graduating seniors and older) who are currently attending
or will be attending a technical center, trade school, or enrolling in an apprenticeship program, each
of which should be centered around the construction industry and should not be free programs. In
addition to the five trade scholarships, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2019 to graduating
high school seniors, GED recipients, or students who are currently enrolled in college or tech schools
that live in modular, manufactured, or mobile homes. These awards are available for university,
college, technical, or vocational programs.

Sarah T. Feltner Memorial Scholarship One of the following majors is required: Family and Consumer Sciences Consumer Education Elementary Education Interior Design Infant/Early Childhood Education Clothing and Textiles Health Related Field Fashion Merchandising Nutrition and/or Dietetics Hospitality Management Family Studies 

General Guidelines:

 Applicant must be a Woodford County resident.

 Minimum 3.0 GPA 

 Scholarship of up to $1000 will be awarded, divided by semester/quarter. 

Consideration given to: ACT/SAT scores, financial need, leadership and extracurricular/civic/church activities. 

Transcript or equivalent is required.

Women Leading Kentucky Scholarship 

CRITERIA 

 
UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: 

  • Offered to full-time undergraduates, this one-time scholarship ranges from $1,000 – $1,500
  • Must demonstrate leadership abilities on campus/community
  • Currently enrolled full-time as a freshman, sophomore or junior
  • GPA of 3.0 or better

 

 

HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS: 

  • Must be a senior attending a Kentucky High School
  • Must attend a Kentucky college or university in the upcoming fall semester
  • Must demonstrate leadership abilities on campus/community
  • High School senior enrolling in a KY college/university in the upcoming fall semester
  • GPA of 3.0 or better

Carla R. Dills Memorial Scholarship

Any Woodford County resident who is a high school senior and planning on continuing his or her education may apply for the Carla R. Dills Memorial Scholarship. T

The applications are located in the Guidance Office at the High School and at the main desks at the Woodford County Library Main and Midway Branches.

The Friends of the Woodford County Library Board of Directors will review all completed applications. The recipients will be notified the week of May 1, 2019.

Currently the Carla R. Dills Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two recipients in the amount of $1,000 each. This scholarship is non-renewable.

Howard Montague Scholarship

Mr. Howard Montague was an integral part of the Woodford County agricultural community
and educational system for many years. Upon his death, a scholarship was created to be awarded to a
senior FFA member graduating from Woodford County High School. This person must also be a tenant
farm or the child of a farmer whose parents do not own over 100 acres of land. This land must be used
for production agriculture purposes. The scholarship, totaling $11, 375, will be paid out to the
recipient in equal installments of $2,843.73 over the course of four years. First year funds will be
awarded upon receipt of proof of enrollment majoring in an agricultural area at an accredited
pos tsecondary institution. In order to continue receiving following the first year, a 2.0
cumulative GPA must be maintained and proof of enrollment must be received. If at any time the GPA
drops below a 2.0, all remaining money will be forfeited and returned to the scholarship fund.

Paula Thacker Scholarship

This annual award honors the life and legacy of Mrs. Paula Thacker. Mrs. Thacker served Woodford County
Schools as a math teacher at both the middle school and then at the high school. Countless lives have been
touched by Mrs. Thacker's ability to reach both the hearts and minds of her students. Those students who
demonstrated academic improvement and/ or overcame obstacles were very dear to Mrs. Thacker, and she
made their success her life's work. While academic performance is taken into consideration, the scholarship is
largely based upon the student's determination to achieve, overcome or improve.

Larry G. Blackford Jr Memorial Scholarship

Any Wood ford County or Fayette County resident who is a high school senior and planning on
continuing his or her education in Media or Music may apply for this scholarship.

The Larry G. Blackford Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two recipients for the amount of
$1000.00 each.

Blue Grass Community Action Partnership

Community Services Scholarship

The Blue Grass Community Action Partnership is offering a $750 scholarship to provide financial assistance to persons from Anderson, Boyle, Franklin, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Mercer, Scott, and Woodford Counties. The below guidelines will be followed:

  1. Recipients will be selected on the basis of need, academic record, and the merits of their applications. The recipients will be selected by a panel of Blue Grass Community Action Partnership Staff, Board Members and the Executive Director.
  1. Preference will be given to applicants that meet the income guidelines for the Community Service Block Grant program.
  1. Recipients may be introduced to the Area Board of Directors of the Blue Grass Community Action Partnership.
  1. Recipients of the award must maintain contact with the local Community Developer each December after the scholarship has been awarded until a Degree/Certification has been obtained or the Recipient is no longer enrolled in a University/College/Technical School.
  1. Application forms may be requested from the local Community Action office or the guidance counselors at each area High School.
  1. Applicants must reside in the county where the application is filed.

Applications should be submitted to the local Blue Grass Community Action Partnership Office by April 10, 2019.  (Incomplete applications will not be considered.)

Shelter Insurance Foundation

The Shelter Foundation annually awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors in communities where there is a Shelter Mutual Insurance Company agent who participates in the program.


The highlights of the program are:
Scholarships will be awarded annually to graduating seniors who attend high schools that are approved and accredited by the states' departments of education.

The scholarships will be in the amount of
$2,000.


Scholarship recipients are free to select any accredited college or university and any course of study they desire to pursue leading to an academic degree. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college to
apply to the tuition, fees, room and board of the student.

A local selection committee of three to five persons consisting of high school officials and community business and professional leaders will consider applicants' scholastic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community activities, citizenship and moral character, and educational goals.


Scholarships will be given without regard to race, creed, religion, national origin or gender of prospective recipients.

Children of any Shelter Insurance® Agent or employee are NOT eligible recipients of scholarships.


The scholarship recipient must accept the scholarship by enrolling in a college or university by the September following his/her high school graduation.


The Shelter Insurance Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation, organized under the laws
of the State of Missouri for charitable, educational and scientific uses and purposes.

Philip & Betty Luckett Scholarship 

This award is given annually in honor of Philip and Betty Luckett. Mrs. Luckett was a former Assistant Superintendent of
Woodford County Schools and spent her career educating the students of Woodford County. She believed in the power of
education to change lives and in the power of people to rise above the challenges that life holds. Her husband shared in this belief
and supported Mrs. Luckett in her quest to educate the youth of Woodford County. This award is presented to a WCHS Senior
who has demonstrated outstanding character in all aspects of his/her life. While academic performance is taken into
consideration, the award is also based upon extracurricular activities and additional supporting information. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated for the award.
