Field Trip

A permission slip was sent home for our trip Feed the Mind at Rupp Arena. This is a literacy promotion for 4th and 5th graders.  Your child will need a sack lunch.  A lunch can be ordered from Huntertown, or you can send one from home.  If you send it from home, it must be in a throw away sack.  No lunch boxes or coolers will be permitted into Rupp Arena.  After eating everything will be thrown away so please make sure everything is in a disposable container.

THIS WEEK

IN Writing: We continued to work with the 6 traits of writing this week.  Our focus was on developing organization, using excellent word choices and choosing the proper voice for a piece of writing.

IN Social Studies: This week in Social Studies, we finished our unit on Age of Exploration.  Our main focus was on the European countries, Spain, England, and France, claiming land in the New World and their motives for sponsoring the explorers.  We discussed how the claiming of land that was already inhabited by Native Americans created great conflict.  Monday of next week, we will take the 1st Common Assessment for Social Studies.

IN Math: In math we have started working on dividing decimals. Some classes planned a zoo trip using their skills, and others worked on interpreting the remainder.

IN Reading:  Students worked on summarizing a text to determine the theme.  Next week we will take our first district common assessment on Wednesday and Thursday.
