Healthy Kids Clinic

We are so excited to announce our new partnership with Cumberland Family Medical, Inc. Each of our schools will now be the site of a Healthy Kids Clinic!

With permission, students will be able to have a telehealth appointment with a physician, physician's assistant, or a nurse practitioner DURING the school day and while AT SCHOOL.

The school nurse will be present for these appointments. We are looking forward to helping care for our students and their families through the wonderful partnership with Cumberland Family Medical, Inc.

It is the goal of the Woodford County Public School district nurses to support student health and academic success by contributing to a healthy and safe school environment. We support education by advancing and promoting health for all students through the implementation of professional nursing skills, health education, and the development of individualized health management so that all students can achieve their greatest potential. We recognize each child's individual needs and acknowledge the importance of a cooperative relationship between families, health care providers, and the school community to provide a supportive system that meets the needs of students.

Meeting health requirements for school attendance is an important part of making sure your child is ready for school. Woodford County Public Schools is responsible for monitoring compliance with various student health requirements including compliance for immunizations, physicals and dental/vision exams. The district nurses also complete staff trainings for certain health conditions and medication administration, assist with the IEP/ARC/504 processes for students with health/medical needs and collaborate with local agencies and organizations to provide health education and other services to the schools.

We believe healthy children learn better and we are committed to providing school environments that promote and protect student health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. The district wellness policy is on the district website and each school's wellness plan is on this Health Services page. You may contact Michelle Hinman or Courtney Quire, the leaders of the District Wellness Committee, if you are interested in becoming a part of the District Wellness Committee.
