We are excited to announce that after several months of the Superintendent search process, at last night's board meeting, we voted to bring Dr. Lori Jones in as our new Superintendent. She will officially begin on July 1, 2025, and looks forward to meeting with staff, students, families, and the community over the summer. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience with 25 years in education. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jones to Woodford County!"

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. — The Woodford County Board of Education voted unanimously on Monday, May 19, 2025, to employ Dr. Lori Jones as the next superintendent of Woodford County Public Schools.
“Dr. Jones has a wealth of knowledge and experience that will continue to propel Woodford County into the future,” says Mr. Adam Brickler, Chair of the Woodford County Board of Education. “Her passion for unifying and empowering others will serve Woodford County well. Thank you to Dr. Jones. We look forward to working with her.” Mr. Brickler also shares his gratitude for the members of the screening committee as well as his fellow Board members for their time and efforts in the interviewing and hiring process.
Dr. Lori Jones is currently the Director of Elementary Schools for Jessamine County Public Schools. Prior to her time in Jessamine County, Dr. Jones worked in post secondary education. She filled the position of Director of Teaching & Learning and then Chair of Advanced Programs at the University of the Cumberlands. Dr. Jones’ experience in post secondary education continues to this day as she has served as an adjunct professor at Eastern Kentucky University since 2018.
Dr. Jones began her career in education in 2001 at Clay County Public Schools as an elementary English Language Arts teacher and then as a high school mathematics teacher. In 2006, she began working for the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) as a Highly Skilled Educator. In 2009, Dr. Jones moved into the role of Principal and then Director of Curriculum & Instruction of Letcher County Public Schools. From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Jones worked for KDE again. During this time, she was the Gates Foundation Consultant and then an Educational Recovery Specialist.
In regard to her own personal education, Dr. Jones is a dedicated student herself. In 2001, she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Middle Grades Education from Cumberland College. She studied at Eastern Kentucky University and received her Master’s of Education in Instructional Leadership in 2003. Most recently, Dr. Jones received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of the Cumberlands.
Dr. Jones and her husband, Dr. Blake Jones, are excited to be moving to Woodford County along with their children, Lilah and Jed Hollen, who will be attending Woodford County Public Schools in the fall. Dr. Jones expresses her enthusiasm for her upcoming role by saying, “I am excited to continue the longstanding tradition of excellence already established in Woodford County. I am looking forward to hearing from community members, families, faculty and staff, and especially from students as we unite to make the WCPS vision come alive.”
Dr. Jones was selected out of 17 candidates who applied for the position and was one of four finalists. She is scheduled to begin her new role on July 1, upon the retirement of current superintendent, Danny Adkins.
